HAARVÖL
A collective project based in Portugal with three permanent members, has been active in the field of experimental music since the end of 2012.
Haarvöl’s music is conceptually developed in the exploration of the properties of sounds in order to achieve cinematic and imaging environments. Hence the emphasis on non-illustrative interaction of sounds with images, which is evident in the videos and films purposely prepared for certain compositions and that can be viewed on the Vimeo page of the project.
The discography has 6 albums in his own name (with an initial edition in the Portuguese label PAD and later, to date, in Moving Furniture Records based in Amsterdam) and several collaborations, including the participation in the album "Dream Sequences # 1" with Jos Smolders and Machinefabriek. The last record of originals is from December 2018, and it is a collaboration with the Balleteatro dance company. The music and images were purposefully composed for the ballet "revolutions". The edition of the CD was the responsibility of the Porto label "Cronica Electronica".
The disclosure of the CD(s) has been extensive, having already gone through radio stations in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Holland, United States, Canada, Mexico, etc ...and with reviews published in several of the most important music magazines such as “A closer Listen” in the USA or “Vital Weekly” in Europe.
In the live presentations Haarvöl have privileged the possibility of the installation where they explore the specific possibilities of the site to create a complete and intense experience in the public. Some of these installations were presented at important events in the field of contemporary art such as the Biennial of Contemporary Art of Coimbra, Portugal (2015) or the Serralves Museum, Porto, Portugal (2016), others as a possibility of concert or as a film-concert, as in the Family Film Festival. Or the Cronica Night, already in concert format last September.
