JOÃO GUIMARÃES FERREIRA
Born in 1984, musician based in Porto.

João has been an active saxophonist since long playing in different contexts, and groups. João was a founding member of Insert Coin, played in different jazz small groups and has worked for more than a decade with Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos.

For the past 10 years João has been working with the trio Hitchpop with Miguel Ramos and Marcos Cavaleiro.

João has studied Music Composition, Early Music on the recorder and Jazz and improvised music, as a saxophonist. João attended his studies at Instituto Orff do Porto, Conservatório de Música do Porto, ESMAE and Manhattan School of Music along with other initiatives.

His own projects have already been published in two different records under his name.

U (Amateur, 2021) being a different approach, a solo (overdubbed) record is now being presented. U as a sign for polarity, magnetism, the transforming/broken circle (1) into a new sign/idea/mirror (2). Cronica Night, already in concert format last September.
